MFA, Iron Conference and More…

Cast Iron Conference:

The University of Montana and the School of Art are excited to host the 2010 Western Cast Iron Conference!  The event is being coordinated by Sculpture Professor Brad Allen.

Registration for students is only $50 prior to the conference.  $75 on May 3rd.

Print off the registration document online, fill it in, and mail that and a check (made out to WCIAA –or- Western Cast Iron Art Alliance) to:

Without Registering you can:

-Attend the exhibitions at MMAC, MAM, Tsunami Gallery, and more!

-Attend the Keynote Address in the UC Theater on Thursday May 6th at 7:30

-Attend the Production Pour on Friday May 7th at 10 am

-Come see Drive-by-Press at the Sculpture Courtyard on Friday

-Come to the Sundown Performance Pour at Rock Creek Lodge on Saturday, May 8th at dusk, $10 at the gate.

Registration gets you:

-All the above, plus early admittance on Monday May 3rd with:

-Access to view/record demonstrations (see website)

-Access to view workshops  (see website)

-Access to take workshops and make iron castings(you pay only material fee)

-Participate in actual iron pours at 2 different sites

-Entry to the Student Cupola Pour and Sundown Performance Pour at Rock Creek Lodge on Saturday May 8th

-Free tent camping at Rock Creek Lodge that night!

Workshops include:

-Sand Mold Workshop with Brad Allen and assistant Jose Chavez

-Ceramic Shell Workshop with Kendall Mingey and assistant Kendra McKlosky

-Pattern Workshop with Jim Wade and assistant Tor Mortenson

Workshop castings will be displayed in front of the MAM the same day for First Friday!

Demonstrations include:

-Enamel and Patina on Iron by David Lobdell

-Bed Sand and Bot Mixtures by Jim Wade

-Laying Bed Coke by David Jones

-Laying Beds for the Continuous Furnace by Tobias Flores

MFA, MFA:

The School of Art is happy to announce the Masters of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions of Cathryn Sugg and Rebecca Weed!  The joint exhibition opens on April 29 in the Gallery of Visual Arts and runs until May 14th.  An opening reception will take place on Thursday, April 29th from 5-7pm.  Come meet the artists and enjoy snacks as you view the wonderful images that represent the Senior Theses of these amazing students!

COMMENCEMENT:
