What a line up! Our annual BFA Senior Thesis Exhibition opens this week, followed by First Friday and the Annual Beaux Arts Ball! Join us for these wonderful art related events:
BFA SENIOR THESIS EXHIBITION:
This year’s exhibition is split between two galleries, so be sure to visit both and see the amazing work of our graduating seniors. The opening reception for the Gallery of Visual Arts exhibition will take place from 5-7pm on Thursday, May 1st, and the UC Gallery reception will run from 4-6pm the same evening. Both exhibitions will end on May 16th.
Our friends over at Missoula Community Access Television are pleased to host the reception for Valley Christian High School students whose works are on display. Enjoy refreshments and student art from 5-8pm.
Once again, our friends over at The Brink are hosting the “On Deck” exhibition and auction of skateboards customized by artists from Missoula and all over the country. Let’s drop some names: This year’s show and auction will feature approximately 54 custom skateboard decks created by artists from Montana, such as Larkin Matoon, Trevor Parr, Courtney Blazon, Athena Lonsdale and Jack Metcalf. The auction will also include a unique piece from Japan-based artist Haroshi. The reception and auction will run from 5-10pm.
Stop by the clay studio to see the latest from Artist in Residence Lilly Zuckerman! This solo exhibition features the work artist in residence Lilly Zuckerman has been developing during her two year residency at the Clay Studio of Missoula.
School of Art 3D Technician Gary Batzloff will be presenting his works in the tiny alternative space run by our grad students. Stop by the alley behind the Old Post Pub to see Gary’s works from 6-9pm.
Don’t forget to pay a visit to the MAM this First Friday! Local artist Alison Reintjes will speak about her site specific sculptural installations at 7pm. There will be tasty beverages, too!
Beaux Arts Ball:
The Associated Students of the University of Montana‘s student art club, The Artists’ Collective, invites you to experience an evening of magic, wizardry and dragons. How could you possibly turn down such and invitation? There will be dragons! Join the UMAC kids at Stage 112 (the Elks Lodge) for their annual party and fundraiser. Tickets are available prior to the event for $5 and at the door for $7. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be available from several categories!
If you have an item or event you would like to share with our community, EMAIL us and we’ll consider it for publication. Have a safe and happy First Friday, and do be careful of those dragons.
