The Life Drawing Session is being held every Tuesday from 7-10pm in FA 401.  Contact Jenna at 240-8227 for more details.


Shannon Wagner, Issan Brant and Christina Beach, BFA students, are hosting an exhibit of students’ works at their home this Friday (Oct 7) starting at 7:30pm.  Shannon tells us that there will be refreshing beverages and some fine art on hand. Stop by 812 Gerald St (near Hellgate High).

John Marquis, a recent BFA grad, will be hosting “Return of the Swivelfist,” this Friday (Oct 7th) at Authentic Creations (123. W. Main) from 6-9pm.  John has arranged for live music by “Silicon Monk”, tasty snacks and liquid refreshments for all who attend, don’t miss out!

Also for First Friday (Oct 7th), the Art Department’s own Brandon William McNeel will be hosting a reception for his exhibition, “Studies” at Burtello Salon (121 S Higgins) from 4-9pm.  The announcement card features a nude male figure and the words “UNBEATABLE Wetness Protection.” I’ll see you there!

Steven Krutek, an Art Department Grad Student, will be displaying a collection of photographic works entitled, “Transmitter” at The Catalyst (111 N. Higgins) from October 7th to Novemeber 3rd.  The opening reception will be October 7th from 5-8pm.

Marilyn Bruya, Professor of Art, has completed a portrait commission for the Missoula Public Library. The portrait drawing of Audra Browman was installed in the newly renovated Audra Browman Research Room at the Public Library, be sure to check out the work of this talented member of the Art Faculty. The Gallery of Visual Arts will be exhibiting Brandon Reintjes’ “Ribbonline Constructions,” Alcia Bailey’s “Secernere,” and Joan MacDonald’s “Fianl Draft” from Sept. 30 to Oct. 28th. You can contact the Gallery of Visual Arts at for more information.

The UC Gallery will be hosting the works of Ebony Patterson from Sept. 26 to October 21st.  The opening reception will be Friday, Oct 7 from 5-7pm.  Be sure to check this one out, Ms. Patterson was recently awarded the title of “Jamaica’s top artist under the age of 40.”

The Montana Museum of Art & Culture is pleased to exhibit “Ancient Thread, newly woven: recent art from China’s Silk Road,” in the Meloy and Paxon Galleries, located in the PAR-TV building until Oct. 7. Museum of Art and Culture, 243-2019 or

Visiting Artist:

Inez Storer, a renowned California artist, will give a lecture in the Social Science Building, room 352 at 7pm on October 11th.  The Missoula Art Museum will host an Artist Reception on October 7th from 5-8pm, her work is currently on display at the musuem.


The Artists’ Collective, a student run organization, seeks to help art students promote their work and become more professional artists.  Their goals are to strengthen the Missoula Art Scene, become a forceful organization on campus, and to open a student run gallery.  Get involved and join the Artists’ Collective this Fall!  The group will meet Thursdays at 6:30pm in FA 304.

The 11th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition will be held form Novemeber 4th to the 18th.  The Deadline for submissions is Novemeber 1st.  CASH PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED! Contact the Gallery of Visual Arts for more information at 243-2813.

The UC Art Gallery is calling all artists! If you would like your work to be displayed in the UC, stop by the Art Office or The Source for an application.  The deadline for application submission is Oct. 21st. 

Camas, “A thought provoking and informative literary journal produced by the Environmental Studies Department of the University of Montana,” is seeking art and photo submissions for its Fall 2005 issue.  The deadline is Oct. 15, 2005.  More info is available at their website:
