NOTICE TO STUDENTS:

Applications for undergraduate scholarships are also available outside the Art Department’s main offices. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Feb 22nd. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

EXHIBITIONS:

Currently on display in the UC Gallery: Wendy DesChene‘s “Inheritance,” an exhibition that incorporates a casting, a slide show, photgraphs and a large painting. The show runs until March 2nd with an opening reception at 5pm that evening.

OPPORTUNITIES:

The Montana Museum of Art & Culture is accepting applications for artworks to be installed in the new Don Anderson Hall building on campus. The committee overseeing the selection process has several submission requirements, and inquiries may be made to Manuela Well-Off-Man.

ART VENUES:

Dauphines, formerly The Raven Cafe, is looking for artists to display their works for First Friday exhibits this year. E-mail them HERE for more info.

ART DEPARTMENT FACULTY AS ARTISTS AND SCHOLARS:

Professor Tom Rippon has a piece included in an exhibition titled, “Artful Jesters” at the Pence Gallery in Davis, CA. The exhibition highlights the work of artists who hail from UC Davis and are featured in the book “Artful Jesters” by Nicholas Roukes. Professor and Chair Mary Ann Papanek-Miller received a Second Place Prize for her work, “Run V” on display at the “10th National Juried Art Exhibition” in Liberal, KS until Feb 24. The Juror was S. Wicks, Independent Curator and former Curator of Collections at the Columbus Art Musuem in Georga. Mary Ann also has work in the national exhibition, “Drawing No Conclusions: A survey of Contemporary Drawing” at The Urban Institute of Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, MI until March 2nd. The Visual Arts Committee and Dominic Molon the Pamela Alper Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. In addition, Mary Ann has had work accepted in the national exhibition, “Positive/Negative” at the Slocumb Galleries at East Tennessee State University. The Exhibition runs from Feb 12th-March 2nd; the juror was Toby Kamp, Senior Curator at the Contemporary Arts Museum in Huston, TX.

Professor James Bailey has works titled “Works on Paper” on display at the New England College Gallery in Henniker, NH until March 2nd.
