The 9th Annual Steamroller Print will occur on Wednesday, October 28th in the parking lot outside the University Theatre from 10am-4:30 pm. But wait, check out the video!
Kurt Weiser, noted ceramist and professor of art at Arizona State University, will present a lecture at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28 in the Ceramics Studio of the Art Annex. Weiser’s widely experimental approach to ceramics over the course of his career has resulted in groundbreaking developments in the vessel tradition, culminating in his signature China-painted porcelain forms.
Weiser served as resident director of the Archie Bray Foundation from 1977-88. His work has been acquired by many institutions around the world, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American Art, the National Museum of History in Taiwan, the Museum of Contemporary Ceramic Art and Institute of Ceramics, Shigaraki, Japan, the Los Angeles County Art Museum, Carnegie Mellon University and others. Weiser was honored as a Fellow of the American Craft Council in 2003.

Visiting Professor of Art Karina Hean will present a lecture on Monday, November 16th at 7.00pm in Liberal Arts Building Room 11. Karina Hean’s abstract organic drawings are featured in the Drawing Center Viewing Program and have been recently exhibited in numerous national and regional solo and group invitational and juried exhibitions, including Zane Bennett Contemporary, 222 Shelby Street Gallery, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, NM and the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts in El Paso, TX . In 2008, Hean was selected for an American Artist Fellowship by the Ballinglen Art Foundation in Ireland and several national artist residencies. Hean earned her MFA at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM and a BA in Liberal Arts at St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD and was a Visiting Professor of Art at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. Karina Hean is currently a Visiting Professor of Art at the University of Montana, Missoula. Here is an example of Karina’s work:
STUDENT JURIED EXHIBITION:
The 15th Annual Student Juried Exhibition will take place in the Gallery of Visual Arts November 5th through the 20th. An opening reception will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, November 5th. If you wish to submit works for consideration, bring them to the GVA on Thursday, October 29th between 11am and 4pm. This year’s juror is Bob Durden. Mr. Durden is the curator of the Paris Square Museum of Art in Great Falls, MT.
