First Friday:

There are plenty of great art events in store for First Friday this month, take a look:

Recent School of Art graduate Richie Carter is exhibiting his newest works at Le Petit Outre (129 S. 4th St W) from 6-9pm.  Join Richie and enjoy “A Night of Orange“!

School of Art student Lea Christiansen will present her exhibition, “Hiding Behind Dragons” at ZooTown Brew (121 W. Broadway) for the month of June.  Join Lea for a reception this First Friday! While you’re there be sure to check out the awesome painting on the floor!

Another recent School of Art graduate is exhibiting work this First Friday!  Don’t miss the opportunity to see the latest from Shana Smith, titled, “Contemplating People” at The Loft (119 W. Main)

Be sure to head over to FrontierSpace to see their latest exhibition, “Triennial Refusés” this First Friday.  As the name suggests, these are works that didn’t quite make the cut and were refuséd by the Missoula Art Museum’s Montana Triennial 2012. FrontierSpace Gallery is located in the alley behind the Old Post Pub (103 W. Spruce St.).

School of Art Graduate Student Jack Metcalf has constructed a play house in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Club of Missoula County‘s auction.  Stop by the Southgate Mall to see all the little fun houses up for auction!

Speaking of the Missoula Art Museum, their First Friday exhibition will consist of works by Dwayne Wilcox, who is described on their website as, “…unique amongst many of the contemporary ledger artists, for his work is steeped in humor and irony.”  Join Mr. Wilcox at 7 PM for a gallery talk about the different ways of looking at the world.

The Brink Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition “Landfall”, by Jennifer Reifsneider.

Jennifer Reifsneider’s sculptures and installations have been exhibited in over 40 solo and group exhibitions across the United States, including at the Torrance Art Museum and Pacific Design Center, Los Angeles, Cartin Gallery, West Hartford, Connecticut, and Basilico Fine Arts, New York. She has received several commissions, grants and awards, including a percent-for-art public project in Missoula, Montana in 2003. Her work is in private and public collections, including the Yellowstone Art Museum and The Museum of Modern Art / Franklin Furnace Artist Book collections. In 2010 she was the first artist-in-residence at Coastline Community College in Huntington Beach, California.

The Clay Studio of Missoula  (1106 A Hawthorne) will present a First Friday reception in honor of David Peters. The exhibition will be on display from June 1-29 2012, with an opening reception on Friday, June 1, from 5:30-9pm.
