It’s time for the Annual School of Art Student Art Sale! Stop by the Art Annex (Next to the Adams Center) and find some amazing works of art from our students on sale and ready for your holiday gift lists!
It’s also the last First Friday of 2013 and there are plenty of great art related events going on around town!

Several groups of students from Professor Beth Lo’s classes will be presenting their works in venues around town and on campus for First Friday. Here is the list we received:

School of Art Graduate Students maintain this funky-fresh alternative exhibition venue downtown. It’s in the alley behind the Old Post Pub; you’ll find it! For the month of December, the solo exhibition of Todd Hayes will be on display during First Friday and by appointment. Mr. Hayes’ exhibition, “Dwellings,” “…intends to subvert the sense of utopia associated with suburban living, converting the prized gardens and large backyards of suburbia into isolated wastelands.” The Opening Reception will be from 6-9pm.
School of Art alum David Lusk will present his latest prints as a series created to illustrate a book of poetry written by UM Spanish Professor Eduardo Chirinos. Join David as he hosts a First Friday reception for, “Zoological Lessions: Block Prints.”
Our friends at the Brink (111 W. Front) will be hosting the opening reception for their December artist, School of Art Alum Patrick Kikut (MFA 1994), this First Friday. “”Manifestdestination: an Epic Western Pop Song” is a series started last summer while he was making sketches on the observation deck of the Teton Lodge. Join the Brink staff as they welcome Mr. Kikut back to Missoula. The reception will be from 5-8 and the work will be on display until the 28th.
The good folks at the Clay Studio will also be selling works this holiday season. If you didn’t get quite enough art at the Annual Student Art Sale in the Art Annex, stop by 1106 Hawthorne for more!
Don’t forget to stop by the MAM for their First Friday reception from 5-9pm. This month’s exhibition is, “The Artists of Opportunity Resources Inc.” Tom Lind, Director of the Arts Program will discuss the program at 7 PM. As always, refreshing beverages and tasty snacks will be provided!
