It’s starting to look and feel like spring in Missoula! Let’s take a look at what’s in store for First Friday in March:
School of Art graduate students maintain an alternative gallery space in the alley just behind the Old Post Pub. Join them this First Friday for “Out of Context” by Todd Christensen. The reception will run from 5-9pm.
Sad news from our friends this week. After six years of fantastic shows, The Brink Gallery will close on May 28. Be sure to stop in and let the awesome staff know how much you’ve appreciated everything they have done for our art community. This First Friday the Brink is featuring work from School of Art alumna Cait Finley (BFA 2011).
Our friends at MAM, fresh from their recent auction, are featuring the works of Gesine Janzen, a printmaker from Bozeman. Janzen employs multiple print processes such as woodcut, monotype, lithography, and intaglio to layer multiple colors, forms, and veils of ink. These layers reflect the physical qualities of flowing water and mimic the act of recollection. Janzen is Associate Professor of Art and Head of Printmaking at Montana State University.
We are being told to expect another art spectacle over at Real Good Studio this First Friday. School of Art alum Max Mahn (BFA 2015) invites you to “First Annual Candy Wrapper’s Hippity Hoppity Ball.” The Missoula Independent published an article about Max and his upcoming show, read it HERE.
If you have an event you would like to share with the Missoula Art community, EMAIL us and we will consider your item for publication. Have a safe and fun First Friday!
