It’s the final First Friday of 2016! Let’s take a look at what’s going on around town:
School of Art graduate students are excited to welcome new work from art major Thomas Manzanarez for their last 2016 exhibition in the alternative gallery. A reception will be held from 6-8pm, but because Mr. Manzanarez will not be present, a second reception will be held from 5-9pm the next evening so he may discuss the work. That’s two chances to see “Learn to Adapt”.
Our friends over at Real Good are presenting a multi-media art exhibition by Ashley Rickman from 7-10pm. “Common Ground: You, Me, and the Others” invites the audience to experience specific and cumulative emotions that individuals dealing with nonspecific silent and mental illness face.
This multimedia exhibit rouses universal emotions from the audience, utilizing psychological commonalities to bring awareness and a new understanding to unseen illness. It is here that the invisible is not only seen—it is felt, and it is heard.
Art major Ashley is a graduating in May with a Bachelor’s of Art from the University of Montana. This work is the product of the past year’s exploration in film photography, sound, video, and instillation.
Be sure to head over to Radius this First Friday for their Third Annual Holiday Exhibition! Over 100 artists will be represented in every medium imaginable. Such names as Courtney Blazon, Bobbie McKibbin, Pam Caughey, Hadley Ferguson, Monte Dolack, Theo Ellsworth will all have work on display.

Join them this First Friday from 5-8pm with an artist talk at 7. UPDATE: at 8:00 MAM staff will serve Laura’s Chili and Brandon’s cornbread!
Members of the ASUM student group The Artists’ Collective, commonly known as Art Club, will host a talent show this First Friday above the Union Club bar. A fundraiser for the group, this event will feature three minute performance of all varieties. Singing, dancing, open mic comedy, it’s all possible in three minutes! $5 entry fee for audience and participants. See you there!
